Many viruses have been around for a very long time. For a software engineer to design a destructive virus it would take a long while. So the best thing to do is to take an old virus and remodel it into a newer virus. So the original virus is still here and the new virus is born. Hence you can pretty much gaurentee that in the future there will be more viruses around. Its often best to call a pc repair technician who may be able to save your data and recover your system. Even if Software writers will manipulate a virus and send it to thier friends who are also software writers to show how clever they are and achieve a lot of street cred we can still remove the virus, in the old days you could run a simple program like

An executionable file like Cargame.exe might start a car game the exe is a run command. Whenever you click on any of the icons on your desktop it runs a command to open the application you require ie ms paint or solitaire, When you click on the icon the software is executed (exe). A virus works the same way the software is written and when you click on the icon the software loads and the rest is history
